NRM Pecking Block is a nutritious block designed to provide enrichment for chickens, made from grains,
molasses, sunflower seeds and oyster shell grit.

FEEDING RECOMMENDATIONS

NRM Pecking Blocks allow birds to snack on a nutritious
supplement as they wish throughout the day.

Knock block out of container and allow free access.

Ideally place on a board or free draining area. Site under cover or re-cover with container during heavy
rainfall to minimise wastage.

Initially some birds may not appreciate the blocks are for pecking – dribbling
some of the birds normal feed over the block can help acceptance.
Rainfall or lightly wetting the block with a watering can or hose will soften the surface and
encourage intakes.

NRM Pecking Blocks are designed as complementary feed for laying poultry. The added calcium is not
necessary for non-laying birds. Additional oyster grit should still be made available to balance plant material
that birds may be foraging.

NRM Pecking Blocks should not fully replace a fully formulated feed as they are not enriched with added
trace minerals or vitamins, or enough protein tosupport good levels of egg production or the needs
of young growing birds.

Typical intakes: 20-30g/hen/day.
Ensure flocks consume about four to five times more layer feed per month than NRM Pecking Blocks.

Limit NRM Pecking Block access if intake is above recommended levels.
For example, a small flock (4 birds) consuming 1 x 2.5kg NRM Pecking Block per month should also
be consuming about 12.5kg NRM Peck ‘n’ Lay per month (depending on the size of birds, stage of lay, weather, etc).
Similarly, a larger flock of about 15 birds consuming 2.5 x 20kg bag of NRM Peck ‘n‘ Lay per month should
be restricted to 1 x 10kg NRM Pecking Block per month.
