Trixie 4 Way Flap door
IMPORTANT INFORMATIONCat/dog doors would be one of the most confusing areas within the pet categories. The type of door - thickness, composition and location ALL make a BIG difference as to what door can be used.Glass (or glass thickness) DoorsFirstly - Double glazed & toughened glass can NOT be cut. They need to be made to the right size PRIOR to installation. This can be a very expensive process if not done at the time - if you are building a new house OR changing doors/windows please discuss this with the window installer BEFORE they make your items. EVERY door and hole that you may have already may NOT fit every other door or hole - they can be all VERY different. If you have a broken cat/dog door then replacing it, like for like is going to be the MOST cost effective & easiest option. If it is just the flap that is broken then give us a call - we do carry (and may be able to get) replacement flaps. Have a look at the door & see if there are any brand names on it before contacting us. This will be very helpful. If you aren't sure then you need to measure the hole - NOT the cat door. Carefully remove the existing frame and measure the diameter of the hole. If it is clear - you may be able to see this through the glass. It needs to be very accurate as just a few mm's wrong may not fit.Ranch Sliders. If your ranch slider door slides over the area needed for the cat/dog door, then you will need a special slim cat/dog door. The door will catch on most of the thicker framesWooden DoorsThe cat/dog doors for wooden doors/thicker walls, have a tunnel that will go over the wooden cutout of the hole. If you don't use these there will be a gap where your pet is likely to get its' leg stuck between. Most of these doors will cater for a variable thickness and many will have add ons for extra thickness. Please check these details, and that there are extra tunnels available BEFORE purchasing your item. Extra info - Just a few extra things to keep in mind when choosing a cat/dog door. If you are having or likely to have issues with stray cats then you may be better to choose a microchip cat/small dog door. The size of your cat/dog will determine which door will work best - check the flap/opening sizes to work this out. Even cut the flap size from a piece of cardboard and checkCheck the height your cat/dog doorneeds to be placed in the door, will work for your pet. If the door framing is too high, a small cat may not be able to access it. Think about the location you are proposing to put your dog door. You will NOT want a big door where there is direct access to the house from inside - security is likely to be an issue here. Because every situation is unique - we encourage you to please give us a call so we can help.
